Koreans in Japan Demand Payment of Subsidies to Korean Schools
Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- The Yamaguchi Prefectural Measure Committee for Subsidies held a meeting at the building of the prefectural assembly on December 11 in protest against the Japanese government's suspension of payment of subsidies to the Korean schools.

Present there were Koreans in Yamaguchi Prefecture, members of the prefectural assembly and representatives of 20 organizations.

A video "Let's protect our school-action in Yamaguchi" was shown at the meeting.

Speakers at the meeting recalled that this year Koreans in Japan including parents of students and Japanese people have staged actions in protest against the Yamaguchi prefectural office's suspension of payment of subsidies to Korean schools.

They went on:

It is a struggle for preserving a bright future of the generations to protect national education. The younger generation of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan will struggle to the end just as the Koreans of the first and second generations have protected their schools through struggles.

They called on the Koreans in Japan and Japanese people to struggle in unity against the national discrimination policy and human rights abuses of the Japanese government and prefectural authorities.

A resolution was read out at the meeting.
