First Secretary of the WPK Kim Jong Un, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the KPA, attended it.

Present there together with him were Choe Ryong Hae, Ri Yong Gil, Jang Jong Nam and other members of the executive committee of the KPA Committee of the WPK, and commanding officers of all services and corps-level units.

Prior to the awarding ceremony, Kim Jong Un made a significant speech.

Noting that he was very pleased to meet the exemplary officials, captains and fishermen in fisheries of the KPA, who are frontline soldiers for defending socialism, at the Party Central Committee, he warmly congratulated them upon receiving party and state commendations for having devotedly implemented the order and instruction given by the party.

He also extended heartfelt congratulations and warm thanks on behalf of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il to the combatants in fisheries of the KPA for having successfully carried out the order for fishing operations issued by the party.

It has become possible to realize the strong desire of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il to supply fishes to the service personnel on a regular basis, he said, adding there is nothing to spare in the world for the above-said persons in the field of fisheries of the KPA.

A high-pitched drive waged by the KPA for reaping a rich bean harvest and making big hauls in sideline fishing has opened a bright prospect for supplying not only soy-based food but also fishes to the service personnel on a regular basis, he noted.

He said this year's big successes convinced him that it was possible to make big fish hauls in the future, too, and got him feel reassured that it would be possible to improve the living of the service personnel significantly.

He once again highly praised the officials, captains and fishermen in fisheries for their loyalty with which they dynamically conducted the campaign for implementing the idea of the party and defending its policy to improve the living of the service personnel as intended by it.

Noting that there is no goal unattainable when they have such spirit of devoted service to the soldiers that they would take care of them as their parents would do, he indicated important tasks to be fulfilled by the field of fisheries of the KPA.

He ardently called on all fields of fisheries in the KPA to make all their boats fully loaded with fishes and return to their ports sounding whistles reporting full loads of fishes at all times.

A decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on awarding party and state commendations to the exemplary officials, captains and fishermen in fisheries of KPA was read out by KPA Vice-Marshal Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA.

Kim Jong Un personally conferred the commendations on them one by one. The recipients were overwhelmed with tears of great emotion and joy.

They renewed their firm determination to make big fish hauls every year so as to successfully materialize the intention of the supreme commander to supply abundant quantities of fishes to the service personnel.
