Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- Service personnel, working people and youth and students planted more than 72 000 rare trees and flower shrubs of over 110 species in the arboretum of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun this year with much enthusiasm for sprucing up the area of the palace. Officers and men of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces planted with care over 4 700 trees of more than 40 species out of single mind to devotedly safeguard the palace where President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il lie in state. Rare trees and flower shrubs planted in the arboretum by officials of many units including the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Labor, the General Bureau of Public Service and the State Academy of Sciences reflect their strong yearnings and reverence for the great Generalissimos. In February and April in which the Day of the Shining Star and the Day of the Sun fall, more than 44 000 trees and flower shrubs of over 60 species took their roots in the arboretum thanks to the ardent desire of the army and people of the DPRK to turn the Arboretum into the most beautiful place. With the reverence for the great Generalissimos further growing, youth, students and other people planted more than 3 200 rare trees and flower shrubs of over 20 species in July and December, months marking the anniversaries of their demise. The will of the army and people to glorify the revolutionary careers and exploits of the Generalissimos was displayed on several other occasions including the 65th anniversary of the DPRK and the 60th anniversary of a victory in the war. Lots of families across the country contributed to sprucing up the area of the palace with rare trees and flower shrubs they tended with sincerity. The arboretum is taking on a beautiful look thanks to the sincere dedication of the service persons and people to the grand seat of the revolution, the holy land of the sun. |
