Kim Jong Un clearly indicated tasks and ways for bringing about a fresh advance in the movement for national reunification in his New Year Address, the statement said, and went on:

In order to settle the country's reunification issue as desired and wished by the Koreans, it is essential to reject outsiders and maintain the firm standpoint of By Our Nation Itself.

It is the Korean nation that wishes for the country's reunification and it is also the Koreans who are responsible for the reunification as they are one and the same nation that would live on the reunified territory.

The reunification issue should be solved by concerted efforts of the Koreans free from outsiders' interference by giving priority to the interests of the nation on the principle of independence.

But the south Korean conservatives, working as puppets of the U.S. imperialists, rendered the situation on the Korean Peninsula extremely tense while getting hell-bent on the moves to antagonize the fellow countrymen and to provoke a nuclear war against the DPRK.

History proves that dependence on outsiders and confrontation with fellow countrymen will add to the tragedy of national division and sufferings therefrom, offer the outsiders an opportunity to fish in troubled waters and make dark clouds of a nuclear war hover over the Korean Peninsula.

The south Korean authorities should not forget the lesson of history, though belatedly, and opt for improving relations with the DPRK and achieving reconciliation and unity from the stand of putting the nation's interests above all, far from relying on outsiders and staging war drills.

The Association will invigorate the patriotic movement for reunification to open up a new phase for independent reunification, peace and prosperity in hearty response to the New Year Address of Kim Jong Un.
