S. Korean Authorities Urged to Stand by Nation's Security, Peace: News Analysis
|
|
Pyongyang, January 8 (KCNA) -- Supreme leader Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address declared a steadfast will of the DPRK Government to make consistent efforts for the detente on the Korean Peninsula, improved inter-Korean relations, peace and national reunification. The address is fully supported by all Koreans at home and abroad as it clearly reflects their desire for the security and peace of the nation. The Korean nation has suffered the tragedy of national division for so long time, being exposed to danger of war. The outside forces' persistent ambition for invasion of Korea plunged the Korean nation into a holocaust of the war in the 1950s. And now the war moves of bellicose forces at home and abroad force it to live under the threat of war in the world's biggest hotspot for nearly 70 years. South Korea has now turned into the world's biggest nuclear arsenal, a hotbed of nuclear war in the 21st century. The continuous military exercises for a nuclear war against the DPRK precipitate a perilous situation where any accidental military skirmish may lead to an all-out war. It is as clear as noonday that if the DPRK failed to restrain itself at a time when the situation on the Korean Peninsula went from bad to worse, the Korean Peninsula might have been reduced into a land of horrible disaster and misfortune. Should another war break out on this land, it will result in a nuclear holocaust and no one will go unharmed. It is hard for the Korean people to continue standing the long tragedy of the national division forced upon them by the outside forces, but if another war is forced upon them, it will bring catastrophic disasters to them. For the Korean nation, nothing is more precious than the security and peace and their desire for them are stronger than any others. The escalation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula is laying hurdles only in achieving national reconciliation and unity and the country's security and peaceful reunification. Any Korean can remain a passive onlooker to the nation's destiny at risk. All the Korean people should not tolerate but resolutely frustrate the confrontational and war moves of the bellicose forces at home and abroad. Those who are worried over the destiny of the nation should turn out in the effort for defending peace, irrespective of their political tendency and affiliation. The south Korean authorities should ponder over the north-south Korean relations from the honest viewpoint of the nation's security and peace. |
