|
|
Pyongyang, January 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the DPRK, set forth important guidelines for national reunification in his New Year Address, which evokes lively response among all Koreans and world progressives. Even south Korean media gave prominence to the address under such headlines as "First Chairman Kim Jong Un Expresses Stand to Improve Inter-Korean Relations in Vocal New Year Address", "Improved Inter-Korean Relations Highly Possible". People across the world are unanimous in highly praising Kim Jong Un for his steadfast will to put an end to the history of distrust and confrontation and open up a new era of independent reunification, peace and prosperity. Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address underscored the need to establish a favorable climate for improved relations between the north and the south, in order to make a fresh progress in the national reunification movement this year. What should be settled ahead of others is to stop slinging mud at and showing hostility to each other. Slandering each other, which stems from feelings of hostility and distrust, will only escalate confrontation and antagonism between the north and the south, not helpful towards the bilateral ties. The Korean nation boasts of long history and glorious culture. Therefore, it is intolerable to see the Korean people antagonizing each other until now. It is a unanimous desire and aspiration of the Korean nation that the north and the south should no longer be engaged in a cycle of confrontation and disputes. The July 4 joint statement and the north-south joint declarations adopted between the north and the south require both sides to stop slandering and restrain themselves from those acts of getting on the other's nerves. In the June 15 era of reunification, the north and the south had promoted the national reconciliation and unity and positively developed the inter-Korean relations to rejoice the entire Korean nation. It will be an important step for improving the north-south relations at risk and resuming dialogues and negotiations between them to stop slandering each other and getting on the other's nerves. And it will be a show of the firm will for improved north-south relations at present. All the Koreans in the north, the south and abroad should turn out in the nationwide struggle for the improved north-south relations, so as to open up a new phase for independent reunification, peace and prosperity this year. |
