The expo opened on January 8. More than 30 000 potted orchids were presented to the expo from at least 120 units of the DPRK, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Germany, France and other countries and various parts of China.

The wing of the DPRK was crowded with horticulturists and visitors fascinated by Kimilsungia.

A prize-awarding ceremony took place in Sanya City, Hainan Province of China that day.

The certificate of the special prize awarded to Kimilsungia was conveyed to the head of the delegation of the Korea Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee at the ceremony.

The executive director of the Orchid Association of China sincerely congratulated the DPRK on world famous flower Kimilsungia named after President Kim Il Sung receiving the special prize.

The expo will become more conspicuous and popular as beautiful, elegant and delicate Kimilsungia is exhibited, he said.

The vice mayor of Sanya City and the honorary chairman of the Orchid Association of Hainan Province said that they are pleased that the DPRK took part in the expo for the first time and peculiarly exhibited the famous flower named after Kim Il Sung. Kimilsungia is very beautiful and fascinating, they added.

A delegate of the Singaporean Orchid Association said: Kimilsungia well known in the world is drawing great attention from the visitors. The flower is very beautiful and elegant.

The expo goes on till January 14.
