Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- A brisk campaign for assistance to the countryside is going on in the DPRK in hearty response to supreme leader Kim Jong Un's New Year Address, which called for keeping up agriculture as a major thrust of this year's struggle and concentrating all efforts on farming. Pyongyang City recently provided more than 10,000 tonnes of compost to co-op farms. Such works are carried on in all provinces and cities. On Jan. 4-5 North Hwanghae Province trucked over 27,000 tonnes of manure to co-op farms while Kangwon and Jagang provinces sent loads of compost to farms. People in North Hamgyong and North Phyongan provinces and cities have assisted farms with farming implements and materials as well as a large amount of compost. On January 10, the first Friday of this year, officials of ministries and national institutions went to co-op farm fields with large quantities of compost and farming materials to encourage the agricultural workers in making preparations for this year's farming. |
