Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the DPRK, in his New Year Address stressed that all officials and working people should diligently learn modern science and technology, upholding the slogan of making all the people well versed in science and technology. The slogan reflects the intention of the Workers' Party of Korea to raise the creative ability of all the people to the level of competent scientist and achieve the final victory in building a thriving socialist country by dint of science and technology. Making all the people well versed in science and technology is a basic guarantee for propelling the building of an economic power. The DPRK has well-regulated education and study systems for all citizens, including compulsory education system and higher education system for the rising generations, spare-time educational system and passing-on technique system. The State set it as the three mainstays for building a thriving socialist nation to attach importance to science and technology as well as to ideology and military affairs and has pushed ahead with the work to develop the nation's science and technology. Centers for disseminating scientific knowledge were built on a modern basis, measures taken to put all sectors on a scientific basis and a social atmosphere established to treat scientists preferentially. Thanks to large contingents of scientists and technologists, the level of putting the national economy on CNC basis has grown higher, with big progress in improving the country's economic structure. Inspired by the New Year Address, the Korean people are now working hard to attain the goal of making all the people well versed in science and technology, mindful that their happiness and the future of the country depend on the development of science and technology. |
