This year is a meaningful one that marks the 50th anniversary of the theses on socialist rural question made public by President Kim Il Sung, the editorial says, and goes on:

This year the WPK set again agriculture as a major thrust of our effort in the struggle for economic construction and improvement of the people's standard of living, and advanced an important task to concentrate all efforts on farming so as to hit without fail the target of agricultural production.

Agriculture is the lifeline for economic construction and the settlement of the issue of people's living. Only when the agricultural sector holds high the torch of innovations, is it possible to make a leap forward on all fronts of socialist construction. When the DPRK does farming well, it can raise a strong wind of new innovations in all sectors of the national economy and bolster up the military capability to be invincible.

It is the only way of settling the food shortage of the country to do farming well by its own efforts and bring about a decisive turn in the agricultural production.

We should concentrate all efforts on bringing about great innovations in this year's farming, fully confident that it is quite possible to settle the food problem without fail when we turn out with determination,

There is no goal unattainable as long as there are the wise guidance of Marshal Kim Jong Un, the great Juche-based farming method and the agricultural workers remaining loyal to the WPK.
