Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- Papers here today carry commentaries in connection with the fact that the National Defence Commission (NDC) of the DPRK made crucial proposals to the south Korean authorities to open a wide avenue for mending the inter-Korean relations by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation. To reject foreign forces and adhere to the standpoint of By Korean Nation Itself is the fundamental principle to be maintained by the north and the south in solving the issue of national reunification, Rodong Sinmun says, and goes on: Only when the Korean nation responsible for mending the inter-Korean ties pools the efforts, is it possible to open a wide avenue for carving out the destiny of the nation and expect fresh progress in the reunification movement. Taking a practical measure of completely halting all hostile military acts against the other side under the grave situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula is the very timely proposal for defending national security and peace. If the south Korean authorities want the detent and peace on the Korean Peninsula, they have no need to stage war drills in south Korea against the fellow countrymen in league with foreign forces. Minju Joson notes that the crucial proposals of the NDC reflect the patriotic mind to prevent the danger of a war and nuclear disasters so as to save the destiny of fellow countrymen, improve the north-south ties and open the way of independent reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation. If the south Korean authorities have the firm stand of independence to carve out the destiny of the nation by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation, they will surely respond to the NDC's proposals, it says. Steadfast is the will of the DPRK to carry out the above-said proposals, the papers say, adding that the south Korean authorities should fulfill their responsibility in keeping with the aspiration of the fellow countrymen and as required by the times. |
