Steadfast Ideals of DPRK's Foreign Policy
Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- Independence, peace and friendship are the fixed ideals of the foreign policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government.

The DPRK has made constant efforts to realize the ideals reflecting the desire of its people, the aspiration of the world people and the demand of the times. It settles any matter arising in the foreign relations in keeping with the interests of the people and according to its own will and judgment and does never allow any act of violating or impairing its sovereignty and dignity.

The forces hostile toward the DPRK are persistently trying to damage its ever-growing prestige in international arena, but the DPRK exercises its sovereignty in a dignified manner, adhering to the principled and revolutionary stand invariably.

The DPRK has striven for peace and security in the Korean Peninsula, Asia and the rest of the world.

Just after the 1950-1953 Korean War, it proposed replacing the Armistice Agreement with a lasting peace accord and has so far worked hard for its realization.

It was entirely thanks to its peace-loving stand and efforts that peace could be maintained on the Korean Peninsula despite the hostile forces' persistent anti-DPRK moves.

The DPRK has paid deep attention to developing the friendly relations with progressive countries. It is also ready to improve relations with any other countries that respect its sovereignty.

Supreme leader Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address said that the WPK and the DPRK government will, in the future, too, hold fast to the ideals of the DPRK's foreign policy--independence, peace and friendship.
