Gyula Thurmer, chairman of the Hungarian Workers' Party, said this in a statement issued on Jan. 20 in support of the crucial proposal made by the NDC of the DPRK.

He continued: The situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula is so alarming that a war may break out any moment. This is attributable to the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises which the U.S. and south Korea are planning to stage from late February under the signboard of "annual and defensive ones."

As proposed by the NDC of the DPRK, it is necessary to take practical measures for completely halting all acts of rattling each other's nerves, slandering and defaming each other and military hostile acts against each other in order to improve the inter-Korean relations.

The south Korean authorities should stop such reckless acts as introducing dangerous U.S. nuclear strike means into south Korea and its vicinity.

Such double-dealing attitude as allowing outsider's nuclear weapons to do harm to the compatriots and denying fellow countrymen's nukes for protecting the nation amounts to crimes against history and the Koreans.
