KCNA Commentary on Japan's Claim to Tok Islets
|

Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Japan has become evermore undisguised in its moves to grab Tok islets. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan has recently decided to describe Tok islets as integral parts of the Japanese territory in teaching manuals for its junior and senior high schools. This reveals the sinister intention of the Japanese reactionaries to implant in the minds of new generations a distorted understanding of history that Tok islets belong to the Japanese territory, in a bid to use them as a shock brigade to grab the islets in the coming years. Educational work is decisive to rise and fall of a country and a nation. In particular, education in junior and senior high schools plays a key role in establishing the outlook on the world. That is why Japan is openly reflecting its claim to the islets in the overall curriculum. Underscoring the need to make students have a deep understanding of history through textbooks, the Tokyo Metropolitan Education Commission in the history textbooks for metropolitan senior high schools described in detail the reason why Tok islets are integral parts of the Japanese territory. Yokohama City, too, inserted the claim to the islets in the textbooks for junior high schools. Under the approval of the government, an increasing number of the textbooks have described Tok islets as parts of Japan's territory, with the number reaching scores of kinds at present. The Japanese reactionaries are instilling into the minds of new generations Japan's dominium over Tok islets in an aim to incite militarism among them. Unchanged is the Japanese authorities' aggressive scheme to turn the islets into a springboard to stage a comeback to Korea and the rest of the Asian nations. From the outset of the new year, veering to the Right and militarism has become more undisguised in Japan's political circles. A campaign to awake the new generations to a sense of grabbing Tok islets has also been launched openly in Japan. This is indicative of the Japanese authorities' persistence in their moves to realize their ambition for overseas reinvasion. Japan's claim to the islets will only precipitate its own destruction. Tok islets are parts of the inviolable territory of Korea. The Korean nation will never remain an onlooker to Japan's moves to seize the islets. |
