Rodong Sinmun Holds U.S. Accountable for Constant Threat and Provocation on Korean Peninsula

Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in an article brands the U.S. as an arch criminal posing constant threat and perpetrating provocations on the Korean peninsula. Citing facts to prove that the DPRK has long been exposed to systematic U.S. nuclear threat, the article goes on: The DPRK has advanced various proposals to defuse the U.S. nuclear threat, but Washington used this as a lever for achieving its sinister goal. The U.S. nuclear threat to the DPRK has not decreased but is on the daily increase. The present U.S. Administration which advocated the building of a "world without nuclear weapons" has posed an undisguised nuclear threat to the DPRK since the former excluded the latter from the list of the countries assured of non-use of nuclear weapons. The Washington's claim that peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and the Asia-Pacific region are being harassed owing to the DPRK's "provocation" is a deliberate distortion of reality. This is just like putting the cart before the horse. Washington adopted the pivot to Asia-Pacific policy and is working hard to put it into practice. It attaches particular importance to the Korean peninsula. It schemes to seize the peninsula, put the neighboring countries under its control by using it as a base and establish domination over the whole Asia-Pacific region. This scenario is meeting strong rebuff not only from its neighboring countries but from the rest of the world. Washington is talking a lot about the DPRK's "threat" and "provocation," a fiction, in a bid to calm it down and justify its arms buildup aimed at escalating its military threat to regional countries. All facts clearly prove that the U.S. is wholly to blame for disturbing peace and stability on the peninsula and the rest of the world. |
