Rainbow-striped Clothes, Traditional Korean Children's Costume
|
|
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Various forms of rainbow-stripped clothes, traditional Korean children's costumes, are well received by customers at the Pyongyang Children's Department Store here with the approach of the Lunar New Year's Day. From olden times, Korean women used to make rainbow-striped clothes for their children on the occasion of their first birthdays and folk holidays. Mural paintings in Kaema and Kangso tombs, dating back to Koguryo Kingdom (B.C. 277-A.D. 668), vividly show national clothes of five colors like red, blue, white, black and yellow. Later the number of colors was increased to the one of rainbow colors. The rainbow-stripped clothes are now considered one of national heritages. |
