February 16 this year is a significant day marking the 72nd birth anniversary of Generalissimo Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

All members of the International Alliance of Societies for the Study of the Juche Idea and Songun Policy in East European and Central Asian Regions are filled with the single determination to add more shine to the august name of Kim Jong Il, deeply revering him on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

Imperishable are the feats performed by Kim Jong Il in accomplishing the cause of building a thriving socialist nation, reunifying the country, checking the world imperialists' aggression and developing and enriching the Juche idea and Songun politics.

Kim Jong Il's works serve as must textbooks to be read by us to grasp his idea on the most important issues of the present era and find a correct solution to them.

Our alliance organizes the preparatory committee for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star in order to hold in a planned manner diverse events including a seminar on his great exploits and works on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

Mikhail Panchenko, general secretary of the alliance, Dmitri Kostenko, chairman of the Russian Association for the Study of the Juche Idea, and Nikolai Polishk, chairman of the Ukrainian "Treasured Sword of Songun" Association for the Study of the Juche Idea, were elected executive secretaries of the preparatory committee.
