Pyongyang, February 4 (KCNA) -- The Hailin City branch of the General Association of Koreans in China on January 29 made public a statement titled "It is necessary to establish climate for improved north-south relations by concerted efforts of our nation". The statement recalled that the National Defence Commission of the DPRK in its crucial proposal and open letter to the south Korean authorities called for taking mutual practical measures to prevent nuclear disaster on the Korean peninsula. The proposal of the DPRK is the very just and patriotic one as it reflects the aspiration of all Koreans desirous of national security, peace and prosperity and the requirements of the times, it said, and went on: However, the south Korean authorities insulted the north's compatriotic magnanimity as "camouflaged peace offensive" and "pretext for provocation", blaring that they would stage the aggressive joint military drills Key Resolve and Foal Eagle, which have been held every year, from late February this year, earlier than the preceding ones. If a nuclear war breaks out on the Korean peninsula owing to the reckless military confrontation racket of the U.S. and south Korean authorities, its consequences will be very serious. If the south Korean authorities sincerely want nuclear-free world, peace of the Korean peninsula and improved north-south relations, they should stop hostile acts of threatening and slandering fellow countrymen by introducing foreign nuclear weapons. If the south Korean authorities respond to the north's proposal with military confrontation despite the unanimous demand of Koreans at home and abroad aspiring after national reconciliation and unity, improved north-south relations, peace and prosperity, they will certainly be denounced and rejected by all Koreans. |
