The title of candidate academician was awarded to Jon Min Ung and So Ui Hwa, researchers at Kim Il Sung University, Pak Sung Nam, department head of Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University, Ryu Sun Chan, teacher at Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, and Ri Yong Su, researcher at Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering.

The professorship went to Kim Won Guk, department head of Kim Il Sung University, So Jung Nam, Kim Pom Ju and Kim Kyong Ra, teachers at the same university, Ri Myong Chol, vice-rector of Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, Chae Hui Won, department head of the same university, Ri Pong Sok, faculty dean of the University of Sciences, Sin Tong Chol, section chief of Pyongyang Jang Chol Gu University of Commerce, Choe Jong Su, faculty dean of Phyongsong University of Coal Mining, Choe Won Jong, researcher at the Geology Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, Han Pong U, researcher at the Central Mining Research Institute of the academy, Ryang Hyong Chan, researcher at the Coal Mining Engineering Institute of the Coal Science Branch of the academy, and Ju Sung, researcher at the Hamhung Branch of the academy.

The doctorate was conferred on Ri Song Chol and Kim Chol Hyok, department heads of Kim Il Sung University, Pak Chol, vice department head of the same university, Ri Yong Gil, faculty dean of Kye Ung Sang Agricultural College of Kim Il Sung University, Hong Song Ryong, vice-president of Pyongyang University of Architecture, Paek Nam Hyok, rector of the same university, and 45 other persons.

The assistant professorship went to 168 persons.

An awarding ceremony took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Wednesday.
