Japanese Ultra-Right Forces Accused of Justifying Sexual Slavery

Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- Choson Sinbo, the organ of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), on Feb. 7 carried an article accusing the Japanese ultra-right forces of justifying the sexual slavery enforced by Japan in the past and its history of aggression and seeking a war. The article recalled that the newly appointed NHK president talked such rubbish at a press interview that "any country which fought a war used comfort girls" and complained that "there is claim that it was only Japan which forcibly drafted those women." Worse still, the prime minister and a Cabinet minister of Japan justified its past crimes, asserting "there was no problem," the article noted, adding: The Osaka mayor, who had been strongly censured by the public at home and abroad for his assertion that "there exists no evidence for proving the coercive nature" as regards the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army in May last year, again talked rubbish justifying his claim as an "established logic". This whole string of reckless remarks made by the Japanese ultra-right forces is attributable to the Japanese government's wrong outlook on history. Japan's colonial rule over Korea was a history of plunder. The cruelest of Japan's crimes was the sexual slavery enforced by it against Korean women at that time. Japan's infringement upon the rights of Korean women and the repeated reckless remarks made by Japanese ultra-right forces are rubbing salt into the wounds of the victims of sexual slavery not only on the Korean peninsula but also in other parts of Asia and Europe. Such acts of Japan justifying its past sexual slavery and history of aggression cannot be construed otherwise than the acts of rushing headlong into a war. The article demanded the newly appointed NHK president immediately step down as he oft-repeats his anachronistic outpourings. |
