There was a solar halo in the sky above Jong Il Peak from 12:30 to 15:00 on Thursday.

Buds began to burst on the willow branches along the Sobaek Stream on Tuesday afternoon, earlier than usual. Such phenomenon was also witnessed on trees around the lodging house for study tourists run by the Management Office for Revolutionary Battle Sites in the Secret Camp of Mt. Paektu.

The inhabitants are glad to hear the news, saying that willow catkin in the Paektusan Secret Camp heralds the spring.
