From 09:00 Friday to 14:00 Monday there was a heavy snowfall in some areas of Kangwon and South Hamgyong provinces due to the humid air flowing from the East Sea of Korea and topographical influence.

According to the Hydro-meteorological Service, it snowed 155 cm in Kosong County, 104 cm in Anbyon County, 92 cm in Thongchon County, 73 cm in Wonsan City, 55 cm in Munchon City and 52 cm in Chonnae County, Kangwon Province, and 47 cm in Kowon County, South Hamgyong Province.

The heavy snowfall is an all-time high in Kosong County since 1969, in Anbyon County since 1979, in Thongchon County since the start of observation and in Wonsan City since 1992.

It is still snowing in those areas.
