Japan Urged Not to Repeat Its Crime-woven History

Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries' acts of tampering with history and moves to revive militarism are foolish acts as inviting self-destruction, Rodong Sinmun Thursday says in an article. It goes on: The Japanese reactionaries are making desperate efforts to turn back the wheel of history, embellishing the crime-woven history, far from drawing a lesson from it and turning over a new leaf. Not content with their denying and distorting the history of aggression, the Japanese reactionaries have gone the lengths of recklessly describing the international tribunal which judged war crimes of the Japanese imperialists as an "illegal trial." They openly distort the crime-woven history, claiming that letting people know the history as truth is "self-torment." Now the Japanese authorities take the lead in openly visiting Yasukuni Shrine. This is a vivid expression of their militarist ambition to defend the history of aggression and repeat it. Instead of deeply reflecting on the lesson and disgrace of the defeat sustained by the Japanese imperialists and opting for the road of peace, the Japanese reactionaries claim that they suffered a defeat because "they were weak." They are rushing headlong into overseas military expansion while ceaselessly beefing up and modernizing the "Self-Defence Forces" (SDF) and dispatching their troops to different parts of the world. They are busy eliminating one by one legal and institutional obstacles to realizing their ambition for overseas aggression. They completely abandoned the principle of "exclusive defense" and allowed Japan's exercise of the "right to collective self-defense," thus making the reorganization of SDF into aggression forces for preemptive attack an established fact. There is growing tendency in Japan to regard the history of aggression as right one. If young people of Japan regard the crime-woven history as right one, failing to have correct understanding of it, they will follow in the footsteps of the imperialists. |
