On the anniversary, the servicepersons and people of the DPRK recall the undying feats he performed to develop the Korean People's Army into an invincible army and turn the country into a world-level military giant.

Kim Jong Il dedicated all his life to the cause of the Songun (military-first) revolution.

He started his revolutionary activities with inspection of KPA units, advancing the slogan "Let us fight devotedly for the great leader!"

He strengthened the KPA into a-match-for-a-hundred army devotedly defending their leader, an army of the leader and the party.

When the country was in hard time, he held higher the banner of the Songun politics to defend the destiny of the country and the dignity and honor of the nation. With the Songun politics as an all-powerful treasured sword, he turned the DPRK into an invincible power and the fortress of the revolution any enemies dare not attack.

In those days he, with strong patriotic will and superhuman energy, made a ceaseless journey of military inspections, repeatedly visiting the frontline posts on Chol Pass, Mt. Osong, Cho Islet and Panmunjom and other areas. He inspected many military units for 17 years till the last moments of his life, more than one hundred a year on an average.

The present might of the KPA as the powerful revolutionary Paektusan army and the dignity of the DPRK as a military giant would be unthinkable without the devoted and energetic efforts of Kim Jong Il.

The conferment of the title of the Generalissimo was a token of the people's appreciation of his Songun leadership feats.
