Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, took the platform.

Present at the meeting were Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju, Choe Ryong Hae and other senior party, state and army officials, the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, bereaved families of revolutionary martyrs, persons of merit, working people in Pyongyang, delegations of overseas compatriots, overseas Koreans and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.

Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys and representatives of international bodies and military attaches here.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, made a report.

The revolutionary career of Kim Jong Il was the life of a great revolutionary and peerless patriot as he dedicated his all to the victory of the revolution and rosy future of the country like a blazing flame.

He experienced all sorts of difficulties and trials in the sternest test of the times and explored an untrodden path of the revolution with his iron will and superhuman energy.

He was a brilliant thinker and theoretician and eternal teacher of the army and people of the DPRK as he provided ideological and theoretical treasure for ensuring the permanent victory of the country and the revolution with his rare wisdom and scientific insight.

He was a peerlessly brilliant commander and genius of creation and construction as he provided a powerful military groundwork and strong economic foundation for the prosperity of the country and happiness of its people.

He turned the DPRK into the world's military power and nuclear weapons state which no one dares provoke under the uplifted banner of Songun. This is the miracle unprecedented in the human history of politics and a great exploit in the nation's history to shine for all ages.

He was an outstanding statesman who provided a firm political guarantee for the victorious advance of the revolutionary cause of Juche and Songun.

It was the distinguished exploit performed by him that he settled most ideally and perfectly the issue of succession to the revolutionary cause, a pressing matter decisive of the destiny of the country and the revolution, as required by the desire of the people and the developing revolution.

He ushered in the June 15 era of reunification based on the idea of By Our Nation Itself by wisely leading all the fellow countrymen along the road of independent reunification and great national unity with immensely broad magnanimity, tolerance and noble patriotism.

He made an immortal contribution to strengthening the international position of the DPRK and increasing its influence, frustrating the war moves of the imperialists and defending peace in Asia and the rest of the world.

The reporter stressed that Kim Jong Il's idea and cause and eternal treasure of the revolution provided by him are being successfully carried forward by supreme leader Kim Jong Un.

He called for glorifying Kim Jong Il's revolutionary career and immortal exploits for all ages, holding him in high esteem as the eternal leader of the Korean revolution generation after generation, and keeping to the road of independence, Songun and socialism to the last which he covered all his life.

Remaining true to the idea of its foreign policy -- independence, peace and friendship -- the DPRK will boost the relations of friendship and cooperation with all the countries that respect its sovereignty and are friendly to it, and make positive efforts for global peace and security and common prosperity of mankind, he concluded.
