Family of Doctorate Holders

Pyongyang, February 20 (KCNA) -- In Jongju City, North Phyongan Province, the DPRK, there is a family with father and his three sons holding doctorate in poultry farming. Father Hong Wan Thae, branch director of the Jongju Poultry Biomedicine Institute, has made great contributions to the research and production of vaccine for poultry diseases after graduating from a university. He wrote many books and brought up scores of holders of academic degrees. President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il met him and had photos taken with him. Academician, Prof. and Dr. Hong Wan Thae was honored to be awarded with Kim Il Sung Prize and the titles of Labor Hero and People's Scientist for his contribution to the development of the country's poultry farming. His eldest son Hong Song Sik and second son Hong Yong Sik, graduates of Phyongsong University of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, are now working as a manager of a poultry farm and director of a poultry institute respectively, while his third son Hong Thae Sik are active as a section chief of a poultry institute. All of them took part in the national meeting of scientists and technicians held last year and other national meetings. |
