Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- The south Korean internet paper Jaju Minbo on Feb. 8 carried an article demanding the south Korean authorities accept the DPRK's crucial proposal for paving a wide avenue for improved north-south relations. The article said that the DPRK had sent the south Korean authorities the crucial proposal including the halt to the joint military exercises and measures for preventing nuclear disasters. The south Korean authorities described Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises as defensive ones, but their assertions have no persuasive power in light of the fact that the exercises will be staged in accordance with OPLAN 5027, a scenario for aggression of the DPRK and, in this course, the largest landing drill, a typical offensive drill, will be staged, the article charged. The present "government" should carefully judge the DPRK's crucial proposal, it said, warning it not to be used for the U.S. strategy for checking improved south-north relations. The authorities should ponder over which is the way of preventing a war and defending peace in line with the requirement of the situation in which organizations of all social standings are demanding the authorities respond to the DPRK's proposal. |
