Kim Jong Il, brilliant successor to the idea and cause of President Kim Il Sung, further developed and enriched the Juche idea and the Songun idea and put forward them as the guiding idea in the era of independence.

He, staunch defender of the national sovereignty and dignity, made tireless efforts for the socialist cause, national reunification, human emancipation and world peace and security in his lifetime.

He turned the Workers' Party of Korea into the powerful party which defends the interests of the people and enjoys their trust.

He had an indomitable will to defend socialism centered on the popular masses and pursued the unique Songun politics to smash the imperialists' moves and defend the national dignity and sovereignty with arms.

Through his energetic leadership he made sure that all sectors of the national economy were updated and pushed forward with the development of science and technology so that the self-supporting economy was built on the firm foundation in keeping with the realistic requirement of the country.

He consummated the idea of Kim Il Sung on national reunification and dynamically aroused the whole Korean nation to turn out in the reunification movement.

The historic north-south summit held on June, 2000 thanks to his bold decision was the first event in the history of the division of the Korean nation.

Adopted there was the north-south joint declaration which was welcomed by the international community and is of great significance in ensuring the detente, security and peace on the Korean peninsula.

The 2007 north-south summit, which is of weighty significance in the improvement of the inter-Korean relations, opened a prospect to make fresh progress in various fields.

The world peace-loving people are paying the noblest tribute to Kim Jong Il and regarding it as the just cause to take an active part in the movement for the solidarity with the Korean people.
