The conferment of the title of Generalissimo of the DPRK on Kim Jong Il is an expression of the Korean people's boundless reverence for him, the statement said.

The Korean people are holding him in high esteem as the eternal leader of the revolution, it noted.

He began his Songun revolutionary leadership through his field guidance to Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army (KPA), it said, and went on:

He developed the KPA into the matchless ranks firmly defending socialism of Juche and dignity of the nation.

He turned the DPRK into a military power with self-defensive nuclear deterrent and led the confrontation with U.S. imperialism and the drive for defending socialism to victory, performing great merits for the Korean and global revolution.

His cause is being successfully carried forward by Marshal Kim Jong Un who is leading the Korean revolution to a victory under the unfurled banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

The Korean people's revolutionary cause of Juche and Songun is sure to win.
