A preface of the booklet said:

Kim Jong Il is the eternal general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), eternal chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and benevolent father.

He was an outstanding state leader, distinguished thinker and theoretician and world elder statesman as he built the WPK into ever-victorious and iron-willed party and the DPRK into an invincible power upholding the banner of Juche idea and Songun idea.

The work, published on June 19, Juche 84 (1995), clarifies the idea that in order to successfully accomplish the socialist cause it is necessary to make the ideological work a key priority with a firm hold on it. It also says the basic task of the ideological work is to imbue the whole society with the socialist idea and that the ideological work should be conducted on the principle and method suited to the intrinsic requirements of socialism.
