Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- There were protests in Seoul, south Korea on Feb. 21 against Japan's moves to grab Tok Islets, according to Yonhap News of south Korea. The chairman of the Special Committee for Defending Tok Islets of the Seoul City "Assembly" said in a press conference at the "assembly" it is intolerable that Japan claims Tok Islets belong to its territory. He noted that he would declare the inauguration of the Federation of Civic Organizations for Defending Tok Islets on Friday. Members of at least 20 civic organizations related with the issue of Tok Islets such as the Tok Islets Institute held a press conference outside the Japanese embassy on the same day. In the press conference speakers strongly denounced Japan for describing the islets as a part of its territory at the "teaching manuals" for junior and senior high schools and planning to conduct a ceremony for "Takeshima (Tok Islets) Day" on Feb. 22. Meanwhile, a civic organization held a rally in protest against Japan's reckless moves. The participants in the rally said that they would stage a protest in front of the Yasukuni Shrine against Japan's shameless moves to grab the islets. Members of the International Solidarity for Defending Tok Islets also held a press conference outside the Japanese embassy at which they demanded the Japanese right-wing government stop at once the wrong education of the rising generation aimed to grab the islets. |
