Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- The Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy in south Korea held a regular general meeting in the Christian Church in Seoul on Feb. 22 at which it said that it would fight for the abolition of the "Security Law" and the release of all prisoners of conscience, according to Jaju Minbo, the south Korean internet paper. There happened in south Korea abnormal phenomena that progressive activists who devoted themselves to independent reunification are put in jail whereas those involved in the illegal election are found not guilty, speakers said. They accused the authorities of their repressive acts against the struggle for independent reunification, democracy and right to existence including the fabrication of a plotted rebellion case aimed to dismantle the Unified Progressive Party and suppression of the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification and the participants in the Railway Trade Union's strike. It is deplorable that the "Security Law" is still taking effect and the innocent prisoners of conscience are behind the bars by this law, they said, adding: The Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy will wage a dynamic action to make the "Security Law" be abolished, all prisoners of conscience set free and check the attempt at disbanding the progressive political party. It is an urgent task of the Korean nation to reunify the country, they said, calling for implementing the south-north joint declarations to open an era of independent reunification, peace and prosperity. |
