Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- Educators in the DPRK consider it as a pride and honor to devote their all to developing the science and technology of the country and educating younger generations. Among them is Prof. and Dr. Jon Ryong Chol, a department head of Songdo University of Education in Kaesong City. Staying on the teacher for 48 years, he has steadily continued the research to investigate and unearth historical relics and remains in Kaesong City. He has also colligated and classified those historical relics and remains, checking historical references to them. In particular, he made big contributions to unearthing over 20 historical relics like royal mausoleums and a large-sized stone Buddha, believed to date back to Koryo Kingdom (918-1392), and ascertaining the historical evidence to them. He authored the book "Visiting Historic Relics in Kaesong". He also wrote over 30 books, including "Medieval History of Korea", "Study in History of Castles in Korea", textbooks and reference books, as well as more than 50 kinds of treatises. Meanwhile, he has made big efforts to bring up a number of students and teachers to be holders of academic titles. He was honored to attend the Meeting of Korean Intellectuals and other national meetings. Jon is a member of the History Society of the DPRK. |
