The statement recalled that the DPRK in its recent open letter sent to the south Korean authorities, various political parties, public organizations and other people called for reunifying the country by the concerted efforts of Koreans and stopping the hostile military actions including war drills for aggression.

The statement continued:

The U.S. kicked off Key Resolve in south Korea at last, defying the above-said call, and it will be immediately followed by Foal Eagle, actions quite contrary to the efforts for reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south and peaceful reunification.

What is worse, the U.S. took such dangerous action as kicking off saber-rattling when all Koreans are sharing joy at the reunion of separated families and relatives from the north and the south.

We cannot repress towering resentment at the U.S. going mad in a bid to realize their ambition for aggression in disregard of the untold sufferings the Koreans are undergoing due to the split.

None of the Koreans wants to see a war break out, it concluded.
