Day of Shining Star Marked at DPRK Missions Abroad
Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Celebration events such as receptions, photo and book exhibitions and film shows took place at DPRK missions abroad between February 6 and 16 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il (Day of the Shining Star).

They included the DPRK missions in Vietnam, Laos, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia, Kuwait, Singapore, Poland, Switzerland, France, Ethiopia, Nigeria and the DR Congo and the DPRK permanent mission at the UN Office and international bodies in Geneva.

Prominently displayed on the front walls of the venues of the events were portraits of smiling President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the full-length paintings depicting the President standing together with Kim Jong Il. Floral baskets and bouquets were laid before them.

On display there were photos documenting immortal exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and supreme leader Kim Jong Un.

Exhibited there were works of peerlessly great men, books and photos introducing Songun Korea and handicrafts associated with talents of Koreans.

Participants of the film shows watched DPRK documentaries such as "Fireworks of a Thriving Nation" and "Pyongyang Today".

Present at the events on invitation were figures of political parties, governments, militaries, organizations, bodies, organizations for the study of the Juche idea and organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people in the relevant countries, representatives of the international and regional bodies and nongovernmental organizations and diplomats of various countries there.

Present there were officials of the DPRK missions.

The vice-chairman of the Commission for External Affairs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam said in his speech that the party and government and people of Vietnam would make all efforts to steadily boost the friendly and cooperative relations with the DPRK.

The director-general of the Yangon City Development Committee of Myanmar said that Kim Jong Il firmly defended the cause of socialism and devoted all his life to the happiness of the people.

The chairperson of the External Relations Committee of the Central Directive Council of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle said that Kim Jong Il was a great leader who developed the Workers' Party of Korea into an invincible revolutionary party and turned the DPRK into a military power.

The chairman of the National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea of the DR Congo said:

Leader Kim Jong Il showed the world what the life of a true patriot was like by setting an example in practice.

Kim Jong Il's patriotism serves as a basic source to guarantee the prosperity of the country and a textbook on life for everybody who loves the country.
