Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification of south Korea held the 144th meeting for peace and disarmament outside the Defense Ministry on Tuesday in demand of a halt to the large-scale war drills, according to the south Korean internet paper Jaju Minbo. Speakers denounced the U.S. and south Korean authorities for kicking off the north-targeted joint military drills. They branded them as acts of chilling the atmosphere of inter-Korean dialogue and reconciliation. The war drills are ones for nuclear attack, not "annual defensive ones" as they are pursuant to the "tailored deterrence strategy", they said. They demanded an immediate halt to the joint military drills increasing the danger of a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula. They stressed the need to ensure peace through dialogue, not by confrontation and war. |
