Key Resolve, Foal Eagle under Fire

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists kicked off Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises, the large-scale war maneuvers for aggression, across south Korea on Feb. 24 despite the strong protest and denunciation at home and abroad. The U.S. and its satellite forces are describing them as "defensive and annual" but their bellicose nature is being brought into bolder relief as they are based on scenarios for a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK. The warmongers are applying the "tailored deterrence strategy" and the "joint plan for coping with the provocation of a local war" to these military exercises pursuant to "OPLAN 5027". The "tailored deterrence strategy" that was signed by the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean military authorities in early October last year is a dangerous war scenario which stipulates that they shall preempt the DPRK by mobilizing all military means including nuclear weapons if the DPRK shows a bit of using nuclear weapons or missiles. The "joint plan for coping with the provocation of a local war" the keynote of which is for the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces to interfere in a slight and accidental conflict between the north and the south and expand it into a total war fully reveals their real intention to ignite a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula at any cost. Such dangerous plans for invading the DPRK are fully reflected in the joint military exercises. The U.S. imperialists are not concealing the plan for staging a large-scale live-ammunition drill under the simulated conditions for the operation to "occupy Pyongyang" within the shortest time during the exercises. This time, the U.S. forces are orchestrating Key Resolve joint military exercises which had been done by the south Korean army from 2008 only in name only to lay bare their aggressive nature. The Korean people and world peace-loving people are cautioning about the grave consequences to be entailed by the war exercises. |
