Rodong Sinmun Calls for Withdrawing U.S. Forces from S. Korea

Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the United States made public a plan for reducing its armed forces. It was reported that the U.S. forces overseas would be reduced according to the plan. But, the U.S. forces in south Korea were excluded from the plan. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says in an article in this regard: The U.S. is increasing its forces in south Korea, not reducing them. They are the wrecker of peace and the source of a war. To look back on history, the Korean nation suffered the tragedy of a fratricidal war and the Korean peninsula has turned into the biggest hotspot in the world where the constant danger of a war is prevailing. This is because the U.S. has occupied south Korea. Not a day has passed by in south Korea without the U.S. war exercises for aggression since its occupation of south Korea. The U.S. forces in south Korea have played the role guaranteeing the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK by force of arms. The U.S. has mobilized huge war equipment whenever war drills are staged in south Korea every year, making its forces in south Korea adept at them. It is an empty talk to call for peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia with the U.S. keeping its forces in south Korea. The U.S. is spreading a false rumor as if the U.S. forces in south Korea should exist to "ensure peace and stability" on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia. Lurking behind this is its sinister intention. It is the U.S. calculation that only when it puts the Korean peninsula under control can it contain the surrounding big powers with the peninsula as a springboard. In order to defuse tensions on the peninsula and ensure peace and stability in Northeast Asia, the U.S. forces should be withdrawn from south Korea. |
