Contest of Traditional Dishes in Kaesong Area of DPRK

Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- Kaesong area in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea boasts of a number of traditional dishes peculiar to the area. Some days ago, a traditional dish contest took place at the Thongil Restaurant in Kaesong City, with the attendance of cooks from restaurants and hotel in the city. What was eye-catching in the contest was bouilli chicken cooked with Kaesong Insam (ginseng), glutinous rice, jujube and chestnut, presented by the Thongil Restaurant. Fruit punch, mixed with dried persimmon, ginger, cinnamon and honey, presented by the Kaesong Folk Hotel, was also popular among competitors. Chicken soup boiled with ginseng and mudfish soup, which were presented by the restaurants under the City Public Catering Management Office, were also highly appreciated. The contest served as a good occasion for further developing traditional Korean dishes. |
