New Kind of Koryo Medicine Developed in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- The Radioactive Rays Medicine Institute under the Academy of Medical Science in the DPRK recently developed a chitosan Eleutherococcus dragee.

This Koryo medicine is made of over 90-percent chitosan from shell of crustacea (crab and lobster) and extract from roots of Eleutherococcus senticosus. Those substances have a special virtue for preventing damage from radioactive rays and raising immunity.

According to Pak Hak Il, a section chief of the Institute, the dragee has been applied to clinical treatment after testing its pharmacological action.

This medicine is efficacious for many diseases like cancer, hypertension, cerebral thrombosis, cardiovascular disease, tuberculosis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, skin disease and heavy metal poisoning as well as prevention of damage from radioactive rays. Especially, it has diverse functions for physiological regulation.
