The U.S. has blocked the reunification of Korea, fostering alienation and confrontation between the north and the south of Korea since it divided the Korean nation.

This is evidenced by the fact that the U.S. imperialists made every possible effort to frustrate the historic Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Public Organizations in North and South Korea held in April 1948 to prevent permanent national division and achieve complete independence and sovereignty of Korea after its liberation.

Afterwards, when the DPRK set forth an epochal proposal for averting the ever-mounting danger of war on the Korean peninsula and achieving peaceful national reunification, the U.S. imperialists sent warmonger Dulles to south Korea to egg the Syngman Rhee clique on to ignite a war, blustering that it should "reject compromise or concession with the north".

In the 1970s they put forward the "two Koreas" policy aiming at permanent division of the Korean nation as their Korea strategy and made desperate efforts to implement it.

The inter-Korean summit, the first of its kind in history, took place in Pyongyang in June 2000 and the historic June 15 joint declaration was adopted.

However, only the U.S. resorted to the mean moves to block the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration, making an open complaint that it is something unimaginable for friendly countries not to notify a surprising decision in advance.

When the north-south relations have recently shown sign of improvement, the U.S. relapsed into bad habit.

The present situation proves that it is impossible to ensure peace and security on the Korean peninsula and achieve the independent reunification unless the U.S. imperialists' interference and obstructive moves are terminated.
