Kirunda Kivejinja, senior adviser to the Ugandan president, was elected adviser to the preparatory committee and Henri Masico, department director of the Presidency, elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The senior adviser and the department director, speaking at an inaugural ceremony, called for organizing diverse political and cultural events including meeting and seminar to praise Kim Il Sung's exploits on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
