Jong is a member of the farm's youth workteam, and his family has cultivated appetizing and nutritious mushroom on a massive scale at a greenhouse with an area of tens of square meters, built in the yard of the house.

This family has reaped 800 kilograms of mushroom from last September to March this year, and its harvest is expected to amount to more than one tonne till April.

It was 18 years ago that Jong's family began to grow mushroom in response to the Workers' Party of Korea's policy for cultivating mushroom widely at all units and households.

Busy as they were with farm work, Jong and his wife strove to get the knack of mushroom cultivation at spare time with help of scientists of a research institution and technicians of the farm. After experiencing setback many times, they got accustomed to cultivation technique and method at last.

At present Jong's family turns out a large quantity of mushroom every year by making mushroom substrate and spores with corncob by itself. Such mushroom cultivation has brought big profits to the family, improving its livelihood.

Many people from across the country are now visiting this family to learn its good experience.
