U.S. Should Return Cultural Artifacts It Looted from Korea: Minju Joson

Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- Public in the U.S. is becoming vocal demanding the return of cultural artifacts dating back to the Korean feudal dynasty which the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces looted during the last Korean war. Commenting on this, Minju Joson Tuesday says: Posted on the White House internet website recently was an article urging President Obama to return cultural artifacts which GIs took away during the Korean war in the 1950s. It is said that a non-governmental organization in Washington D.C. also sent a similar message to the U.S. State Department. The U.S. president's call for sending cultural artifacts back to Korea, their owner, is entirely just in the light of ethics and morality in the human world and from international legal point of view. The Korean nation with a time-honored history and culture has many valuable cultural artifacts which it can boast in the world. But lots of them were looted or vandalized by the gangster-like U.S. imperialists. During the Korean war in the 1950s, in particular, the U.S. imperialists indiscriminately vandalized or massively looted precious cultural artifacts of the Korean nation wherever they went. It has now become an international trend to sincerely apologize for past wrongdoings, and for the assailants to make reparation to the victims. The U.S. should also apologize to the Korean nation and make due reparation for its atrocities and crimes committed during the last Korean war. It should clarify the truth about the plunder of Korea's cultural artifacts including the Royal seal belonging to the Korean feudal dynasty and make a bold decision to return all the valuable cultural treasures it looted from Korea. |
