KPA Commanding Officers Make Study Tour of Revolutionary Battle Sites in Area of Mt. Paektu

Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- Commanding officers of the combined units of the Korean People's Army (KPA) made a study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt. Paektu from Mar. 23 to April 1. There took place a ceremony before starting the tour in front of the Monument to the Victorious Battle of Pochonbo in Hyesan City, Ryanggang Province on Mar. 23. The officers placed a floral basket and bunches of flowers before the statue of President Kim Il Sung in the monument and paid tribute to him. Speakers at the meeting expressed the determination to deeply grasp the origination of the Songun revolution and the history of its proud victory through the tour and firmly prepare themselves into the reliable defenders and steadfast personifiers of the revolutionary traditions. Then they started the tour. Arriving in the historic land where the battle of Pochonbo commanded by the President was fought, they went round various places of the battle site. They visited General Secretary Kim Jong Il's birthplace in the Paektusan Secret Camp on Mar. 24. They toured the Sajabong Secret Camp, Rimyongsu Revolutionary Site and Chongbong, Konchang and Pegaebong bivouacs and on March 27 marched along the Kapsan-Musan guard road and arrived in the Samjiyon Revolutionary Battle Site on Mar. 27. They placed a floral basket and bunches of flowers before the statue of the President and paid tribute to him. After arriving at the Monument to the Victorious Musan Area Battle via the Mupho Bivouac and the Sinsadong Revolutionary Battle Site, they held a shooting competition at the battle site of Taehongdan. They held an oath-taking meeting before a monument at fork to Mt. Paektu and headed for the Samjiyon Grand Monument. A meeting of commanding officers of combined units of the KPA was held with splendor at the plaza of the Samjiyon Grand Monument in the presence of Marshal Kim Jong Un. The participants pledged to fully arm themselves with the revolutionary spirit of Mt. Paektu and remain loyal to the Songun revolutionary leadership of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un. They held various events such as a meeting to expressing impressions of reminiscences of anti-Japanese guerrillas read by them, a bonfire fathering and a question-and-answer study contest. |
