S. Korean Authorities Slammed by International Community

Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Internet paper Voices of People Tuesday in an editorial slammed the present south Korean authorities' crackdown upon the trade unions censured by the international community. The editorial went on: In March, the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO) expressed deep concern over the south Korean "government's" crackdown upon labor organizations including the Teachers Union and adopted a report urging it to take measures. The ILO has so far censured the article of the law on disqualifying dismissed workers as unionists as violation of the principle of freedom of association and demanded the authorities revise or repeal it. However, the Park Geun Hye's regime forced the Teachers Union to modify its statute in a way to disqualify dismissed members as unionists but deprived the trade unions of their legal status last year, when the demand was not complied. It became a target of international criticism for ignoring the recommendation of the world labor circle related to the demand. The Park Geun Hye regime has been under fire for ceaseless cases that brought shame to the people. They included teasing of a woman by the spokesman for Chongwadae that drew worldwide censure at the outset of her office, the case of attempted rebellion which is jeered as a witch hunt in the 21st century, the application for a trial demanding the dissolution of the Unified Progressive Party and a forgery of foreign official documents for the fabrication of a spy case. Not content with this, the regime is suppressing the Teachers' Union, becoming a laughing stock of the international community. |
