Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA) -- U.S. Congress is discussing a plan to spend a total of 37 billion U.S. dollars for the establishment of a missile defense system by 2019. It is said that the U.S. needs such a huge fund for the protection of the U.S. mainland, its forces abroad and allies. What matters is its excuse that the MD system is to cope with the "missile threats" from the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun Sunday says in a commentary that the U.S. despicable talk about "threat" from the DPRK is aimed to justify its arms buildup pursuant to its pivot to Asia-Pacific strategy. The U.S. new domination strategy is designed to contain big powers and hold a military hegemony in the Asia-Pacific region, the commentary notes, and goes on: The U.S. regards MD as an important leverage for world domination. Last year it decided to additionally deploy interceptor missiles to cope with the "threat" of inter-continental ballistic missiles of the DPRK and called for completing it by 2017. It is now busy, deploying in Japan near the Korean peninsula a new high-performance radar for tracking ballistic missiles, additionally deploying interceptor missiles in the western region of the U.S. which already houses lots of interceptor missiles and reinforcing MD system on Guam. All this is prompted by its sinister intention to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK and contain potential rivals in the region. If the U.S. is truly worried about the missiles of the DPRK, it had better roll back its hostile policy toward the DPRK and stop the nuclear war moves. |
