The scientific and technological sector is one of the main targets of the heinous hostile policy toward the DPRK pursued by the U.S. and other imperialists and their final aim is to cut off the lifeline of the DPRK, the editorial says, and goes on:

If one lags a step behind in science and technology, one cannot escape the destiny of a backward country, a colonial slave in the technological aspect as it is compelled to take ten, nay a hundred steps back in all other sectors and, in the long run, one will not be able to protect the sovereignty of the country and the nation.

The Workers' Party of Korea is considering the scientific and technological front as the outpost for defending socialism. Its main idea is to make people always remember that there go on an acute and fierce scientific and technological confrontation with the imperialists and a drive for pushing back the frontiers of latest science and technology which are decisive of the rise and fall of the country and the nation not only at battle fields where guns are leveled at each other but also at all worksites and posts.

The scientific and technological front is the outpost for defending socialism while the scientists and technicians are the frontline soldiers waging a do-or-die battle.

Now is the time for the scientists and technicians to give fullest play to the creative ingenuity, wisdom and talents they have cultivated under the care of the WPK for the prosperity of Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's Korea and its bright future.

All the scientists and technicians should foil the base and vicious moves of the imperialists and all reactionaries, who are displeased to see the DPRK achieving prosperity and well-being, by dint of science and technology and fulfill their mission and duties as the standard-bearers and frontline soldiers in the efforts to defend and glorify the socialist system by dint of science and technology.
