Present there on invitation were the DPRK ambassador to Italy and staff members of his embassy.

Speeches were made there.

Franco Costanzi, secretary general of the Italian Committee for the Study of the Juche idea, said that the high-level contacts and reunion of separated families and relatives were held recently between the north and the south thanks to the sincere efforts of the DPRK.

Saying that the favorable atmosphere for improving the north-south relations was chilled by the U.S., he condemned it for resorting to the reckless hostile policy toward the DPRK.

Lamberto Dini, former foreign minister of Italy, affirmatively estimated the proposals set forth by the DPRK to mend the north-south relations and ensure peace and security on the Korean peninsula.

Marco Rizzo, general secretary of the Communist Party of Italy, said:

The Western media are spreading false rumors to tarnish the image of the DPRK. The U.S. is applying double standards in dealing with international issues.

The U.S. is ceaselessly threatening the DPRK with large-scale joint military exercises around the Korean peninsula every year by mobilizing huge forces for aggression enough to wage a war.

It is crystal clear who threatens whom on the Korean peninsula.

It is our duty to stand by the Korean people fighting against the U.S. and intensify the movement to express support and solidarity for them.
