Regional Body Denounces Japan for Its Moves to Seize Korean Hall of Chongryon

Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- The International Alliance of Societies for the Study of the Juche Idea and Songun Policy in East European and Central Asian Regions issued a statement on April 2 condemning the Japanese government for its moves to seize the Korean Hall of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

The statement said:

We strongly protest against the Japanese authorities' suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan.

Very dangerous is the illegal decision to allowing the sale of the building and land of the Korean Hall.

In case tensions are escalated in the region in the future, the Japanese authorities will be held wholly responsible for it.

If Japan had sincerely fulfilled its moral responsibility and had not resorted to the harsh suppression of Chongryon, the issue of the Korean Hall would not have been raised.

We bitterly condemn the Japanese authorities' gangster-like act.

The Japanese authorities should clearly understand that such suppression will only result in straining the international situation.
